Very young children are unable to you when they feel ill, so you have to be vigilant and judge the situation carefully, which can be difficult. The best way to treats child illnesses is to prevent them before they attack, and boosting your child’s immune system is a great way to do this.

A healthy immune system is the best tool you can give your child to ensure they have the best childhood they can have, and set them up with good health for the rest of their life.

These steps will help you strengthen your child’s immune system.

1. Give their diet a boost

A healthy diet is essential to your child’s health and well-being. Breastfeeding your baby for 6 months and upwards help to develop their immune system, along with fortified cereals and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

2. Let them sleep on sheepskin

Studies have shown that exposing your baby to real animal fur can strengthen the immune system in the same way they build up an immunity to a household pet. Tiny microbes that are present in the fur can actually help your child’s lungs develop an immunity early on so that it will stronger later on.

3. Feed them yogurt

Plain yogurt is full of good bacteria that will help build up the developing immune system in your child. Mash up some fruit, like a banana, into the yogurt for a nicer taste and for added vitamins and minerals.

4. Take them out in the sunshine

Suns light contains important vitamin D that aids the absorption of calcium, resulting in healthy bones, and gives the immune system a boost too. If it is impossible for you to take your child out regularly, try giving them vitamin D supplements.

5. EFAs are necessary for their health

Essential fatty acids are found in fish such as salmon, mackerel, tuna and sardines and are essential foe enhancing your child’s immune system. Lots of EFAs will ensure your child is in good health. As with all fish, make sure there are no bones in the fish before feeding your child, as fish bones are a serious choking hazard.
