How Whole Turmeric Heals The Damaged Brain

Science has long suggested that brain damage cannot be undone. Occasionally skills can be relearned, and neural pathways can be slowly redeveloped, but brain damage, we're told, is permanent.

Except...what if it's not? New research suggests that turmeric (all hail the mighty superfood!) may be key to understanding brain regeneration.

New research from the journal Stem Cell Research & Therapy suggests that a fat-soluble compound in turmeric - Ar-tumerone - may be the key to understanding the possibility of neurological regeneration. As the study found, when brain cells are exposed to Ar-tumerone, neural stem cells proliferate, meaning the possibility for healing and new brain growth exists.

Quite a few news organizations picked up on this, so it's not as if it was a non-story, yet it somehow still escaped most people's notice.
