Scientists Reveal Fluoride Causes Hypothyroidism Leading To Depression, Weight Gain, and Worse...

Since the release of two studies on water fluoridation, from the previous three years, gears are shifting as perception changes.

At the University of Kent in England, researchers conducted an eye-opening study on the impacts of adding fluoride into public water systems.

Once obtained data was studied from all medical practices in England, scientists discovered that fluoride increases your risk for hyperthyroidism or underactive thyroid, which is a condition where the thyroid glands have a hard time producing adequate amounts of hormones, which causes symptoms like depression, fatigue and obesity.

A study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, had involved one community with the largest population that was examined in regards to the health effects from water fluoridation.

Recent UK study includes the “largest population ever studied in regard to adverse effects of elevated fluoride exposure”

When collected data from 99% of England’s 8,020 general medical practices, researchers discovered that areas with fluoridated water were 30% likely to include very high levels of hypothyroidism, in comparison to the areas with low amounts of fluoride in the water.

It leads to about 15,000 people to suffer from weight gain, depression, aching muscles, and fatigue, in which all can be risk-eliminated if fluoride was to be removed from the water system, says The Telegraph.

“Overall, there were 9 percent more cases of underactive thyroid in fluoridated places,” reports Newsweek, which further reports that 10% of the water in the UK is fluoridated in comparison to 70% of America’s water supply.

It also had compared the fluoridated water system in Birmingham along with the city of Manchester, which avoids fluoride, and discovered that doctors in Birmingham were twice as much likely to note high rates of hypothyroidism.

“The study is important because it is large enough to detect differences of potential significance to the health of the population,”  said Trevor Sheldon, a medical researcher and dean of the Hill York Medical School who published many studies in the field.

In the past, Sheldon had supported fluoride, but now believes the “case for general water fluoridation” isn’t vague anymore.

New fluoride study contradicts last year’s report by Public Health England that states fluoride is “safe and effective” for improving dental health

In March of last year, a report was conducted by Public Health England, that states “there is no evidence of harm to health in fluoridated areas,” and there was no differences found in fluoridated and non-fluoridated areas when involving osteosarcoma (a form of bone cancer), hip fractures, cancer, Down’s Syndrome birth and other causes for death. However, there is new research that proves the increase in cases of hypothyroidism in the West Midlands and Northeast of England is “concerning for people living in those areas.”

“The difference between the West Midlands, which fluoridates, and Manchester, which doesn’t was particularly striking. There were nearly double the number of cases in Manchester,”  says Stephen Peckham, the study’s lead author.

Women 15 times more likely to develop underactive thyroid

“Underactive thyroid is nasty to have and leads to other long term health problems. Councils need to rethink putting fluoride into the water. There are many safer ways to help improve dental health.”

When it comes to women, they are 15 times more likely to develop hypothyroidism than men. Through many scientific studies, they have found that fluoride prevents the thyroid from using iodine (essential mineral for healthy thyroids) to maintain its health.
