Rub This Homemade Magnesium Lotion On Your Skin To Help Relieve Pain In Minutes

Your skin is the wall that protects your fortress, and by that I mean your body. Because of this you should maintain and treat your wall the best and as often as you can to protect your body and keep you healthy.

As a hiker who avidly enjoys it every other day after work, there are 3 key things I keep my complete focus on. First, drinking plenty of water. Second, making sure my skin is moisturized and has sunscreen lotion to protect from harmful rays. Last, I make sure I have had enough rest and allow my body to heal. What if you could create a concoction that could soothe your aches and moisturize your skin at the same time? My important secret: Magnesium lotion.

What is Magnesium?

Magnesium is imperative in maintaining body health, as it is one of the essential minerals we need. Shockingly, our bodies make use of magnesium in over 300 chemical reactions.

Here are the benefits of magnesium:

  • Promotes soothing and aids in healing inflammation from injuries
  • Helps promote good circulation
  • Helps in the absorption of the essential vitamin D from the sun
  • Helps promote healthy bones
  • Aids in energy boost and balance
  • Can decrease your risk of diabetes

There is not enough magnesium in our diets, and it is fact that the average adult receives about 66% of their recommended daily value of magnesium. A good question you might be thinking is how do we receive the right amount of magnesium? Well, luckily there is exactly one way to give your body it: Topically.

Topical Magnesium

We can actually take in nutrients and various minerals from our skin. If you have even heard about nicotine patches that aid people in quitting smoking, well its the same exact idea. Applying this beneficial nutrient to your skin is the way to reap the most benefit. Dr. Norman shelly of the American Holisitic Medical Association, had conducted a study with participants using flakes of magnesium in foot soaks and through skin-applied magnesium oil.  After about 4 weeks, 3/4 or 75% of the patients displayed amazingly positive results. Each saw a significant boost in their magnesium levels.

Try out this moisturizer, it will work wonders on your body. It soothes muscle aches, and is a form of sun screen! Avocado oil and shea butter are found to have a SPF content from between 4-10.

Homemade Moisturizing Magnesium Body Butter

Ingredients:

Magnesium Oil

  • 3 tbsp of boiling water
  • 1/2 cup of magnesium flakes

Magnesium Body Butter

  • 2 tbsp of emulsifying wax
  • 1/2 cup of magnesium oil
  • 1/4 cup of avocado oil ( you can substitute in unrefined coconut oil or sweet almond oil)
  • 3 tbsp of shea butter

Instructions:

Magnesium Oil

  1. Add in both magnesium flakes and boiling water to a container and stir until dissolved. Allow to cool before continuing.

Magnesium Body Butter

  1. Use a small pot filled with about 1/4 cup of water to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to a simmer and place a pyrex bowl or stainless steel mixing bowl, whichever you choose, on the top of the bowl to create a double-boil. Be careful not to let the bowl touch the boiling water.
  3. Add the ingredients, excluding magnesium oil to the bowl and allow to melt together. After, remove the bowl from heat and allow to cool up to room temperature.
  4. Utilize a hand blender; blend both the mixture and magnesium oil slowly.
  5. When mixed very well, allow the mixture to cool down in the fridge for about 15 minutes. After, blend again and it should be ready for you!

This wonderful mixture will last up to 2 months as long as if you keep it in your fridge daily to cool down. For the best result, leave it in your fridge for a cooling sensation.
