Watch the Northern lights Whilst Cuddling with Wolves in THIS Spectacular Sanctuary in Norway

You might not consider a wolf as a particularly cuddly animal, but one animal sanctuary in Norway has wolves that have been reared by humans, they love human company and they give great snuggles.

The sanctuary is called Polar Park, and as well as giving you the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the wolves, it is also a fantastic place to spot the Northern Lights.

The park has specially trained 'social wolves' that have been brought up from birth in close contact with humans, this way they are not scared of human interaction and they love the attention and getting played with.

Polar Park aims to educate it's visitors on the importance of endangered animals, for example the grey wolf is considered “critically endangered” in the Norwegian Red List for Species, and a report in 2013 confirmed that Norway only has around 68 wolves left. The wolf numbers are dwindling due to cruel human hunting practices and human encroachment. The wolves that have been brought up in care are protected from the dangers of the outside world, and although they live in a false environment, they have adapted, and are not at risk of being hunted anymore.

Safety is a big issue at the park, you are only allowed to get up close with the wolves after you have been briefed by the instructors, and wearing appropriate clothing and are in good physical shape.

The main attraction of the park is a specially built 'wolf lodge' which is a lodge built right in the middle of the sanctuary, only accessible by humans through an underground tunnel. It has big glass windows so that you can observe the wonderful creatures at length without disturbing them.

Norway is also a hot-spot for the Northern Lights, and thousands of people travel there every year to get a glipse of the amazing phenomenon. If you have always been eager to see them and were thinking of making the trip, why not book into the Polar Park and have both great experiences at once. Visit the Polar Park website for more details and booking information.
