Sugar Doesn’t Just Feed Cancer Cells, It Actually CREATES Them!
Studies have shown that eating sugar can rapidly increase cancer cell growth in the body. We all know the many reasons why sugar is bad for you, increased weight gain, damages teeth etc. but did you know that eating sugar may actually be killing you faster?
With the holiday season coming up, indulgence is inevitable, but studies have shown that sugar is one of the worst foods you can eat in terms of cancer growth.
Eating too much sugar actively encourages growth of cancer cells. High refined sugar has always been linked to tumour development but new evidence shows it is more explicit than that.
Cancer cells grow at a rate of 10-12 times more than healthy cells when feeding on sugar. The Positron Emission Tomography is one of the most accurate ways in which we can measure cancer growth. German Otto Warburg, the 1931 Nobel laureate in medicine developed a theory that cancer cells have a different energy metabolism compared to healthy cells, and that glycolysis in malignant tumors is increased compared to healthy cells.
The 2013-2014 Journal of Clinic Investigation studied the effect of increased sugar uptake and oncogenesis (cancer formation) and they found that increased glucose uptake had a direct and positive correlation to the early phases of cancer cell production.
Additionally, a 1985 study on sugar and the risk of large bowel cancer showed that patients who consumed large amounts of sugar had a higher risk of developing cancer than patients who ate less sugar. Another study published in 2006 linked high sugar consumption to patients with pancreatic and breast cancers.
Obesity is often linked to cancer, and as the Canadian Cancer Society explains, being obese causes changes in hormone levels, such as sex hormones or insulin, which increase the risk of developing breast, colon or uterine cancer.
Sugar is in most things we eat to some extent, and it occurs naturally as well as being added in The natural sugars found in fruit are considered less dangerous than processed sugars such as high fructose corn syrup due to its high glycemic index.
Dr. Tony Jimenez has theorised that sugar from organic produce may not be a threat to cancer cell growth in the same way processed sugars do because human cells absorb left-spinning molecules, which occur naturally in fruits and vegetables, and cancer cells only absorb right spinning particles, which are found in refined sugar.
Aside from cancer, the list of health problems related to eating too much sugar include: diabetes, heart disease, stroke, immobility, elevated triglycerides and high blood pressure. You should include lots of fruit and vegetables in your diet and try to eat fruits with a low GI index to keep you full for longer. These include grapefruit, cherries, pears, apples and oranges. Do not exceed six teaspoons a day of sugar if you are a woman, and nine teaspoons if you are a man.
