Hamburger Chef Jamie Oliver Proves McDonald’s Burgers “Unfit for Human Consumption”

Healthy food advocate Jamie Oliver has won a long battle against Mc Donalds after showing them to be serving sub-standard burgers.

The fast food chain have agreed to change the recipe for their patties after a campaigning from Oliver who highlighted problems in the process. Srtangely enough there was virtually no coverage about this in the mainstream media...

The move marks the fact that Americans are starting to move away from fake food after McDonalds was made famous for the 'pink slime' pictures that highlighted what actually went into their burgers.

Some of the ingredients found in fast food are:

Dimethylpolysiloxane – A chemical known for its use in silicone breast implants, silly putty, and also… chicken nuggets

Propylene glycol
– A laxative chemical and electronic cigarette filler that even e-cigarette companies are beginning to phase out

Azodicarbonamide – A chemical used in the creation of foamed plastic items like yoga mats

Oliver has consistently appealed to the public regarding the processes used in fast food, including the fact that parts of the beef are “washed” in ammonium hydroxide and used in the filling of the burger. Before this process takes place, the meat is deemed unfit for human consumption, but the washing in ammonia miraculously makes it ok to eat. Oliver pointed out  “Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold in the cheapest way for dogs, and after this process, is being given to human beings.”

Aside from the sub standard quality of the meat, the ammonium hydroxide is considered harmful to health.

Jamie asked the question “Why would any sensible human being put meat filled with ammonia in the mouths of their children?”
Arcos Dorados, the franchise manager for McDonalds in Latin America, has reacted to the press by confirming that products in Latin America are not subject to this process, and this does not happen in the UK or Ireland either, but it is a different story in America.

Why McDonalds think it is ok to carry out this practice in the US when other countries serve better quality products to their customers is a question still to be answered.

McDonalds have changer their website to state they do not use 'beef filler' any more, but have not stated whether it is to do with Jamie Oliver's campaign or not.
