Cayenne Pepper For Muscle Pain


Cayenne pepper includes an ingredient called capsaicin, which stimulates the release of a substance in the body called “substance P”. Substance P is released from the body's inflammatory cells in the immune system. Substance P is particularly helpful for the body in combating pain by releasing cytokines to help the inflamed area.

This special rub contains other ingredients which will help you on the way to ache-free muscles, as well as other health benefits.

Coconut oil is great for nourishing the skin, and it's antimicrobial which makes it a great base ingredient for the rub. Coconut oil has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduce pain.

Raw cocoa butter is also nourishing to the skin. It is full with antioxidants and is easily absorbed through the skin, taking with it the added herbs.




Ginger has been used for thousands of years for its health benefits. It is a natural anti-inflammatory, and when used such as in this rub will help aid blood flow. Increased blood flow helps new cells along to the site of pin and gets rid of dead cells which have fulfilled their pain killing duty.

Turmeric like ginger, it has an ancient history of being used as a medicine. Turmeric is also a great anti-inflammatory and helps reduce swelling

Peppermint Essential Oil another naturally occurring element which is great for beating pain and swelling. Peppermint cools the effected area in the same way ice does, and used with ginger creates a nice balance.


As well as using this rub, when in pain with any ailment, remember to:

Rest the effected area well. Rest is key to a fast recovery, and putting any excess pressure on the area can make it worse in the long run.

Drink lots of water, as this is essential to stay hydrated and to stimulate pain fighting cells to move quickly around the body.

Take turmeric capsules daily to help joint (especially knee) pain. Turmeric has been shown to be as effective as NSAIDs for reducing pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis







Recipe:



  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup raw cocoa butter (if you can’t find this, then just use all coconut oil)
  • ¼ cup beeswax (grated to facilitate melting process)
  • 2 tsp organic Cayenne powder
  • 1 tsp organic Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp organic Ginger powder
  • 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • 4 oz. glass jar



Instructions:


Place the coconut oil, cocoa butter and beeswax into a pyrex glass container and place that into a sauce pan that contains 2-3 inches of water (the pyrex will be resting in the water).

Bring the water to a simmer. Continually stir the mixture until the cocoa butter and beeswax are completely melted, along with the coconut oil.

Add the cayenne, turmeric and ginger powder and stir until they are completely moistened (roughly a minute).

Remove from heat and add the peppermint essential oil.

Pour the mixture into a glass jar immediately and allow to cool before placing a lid on top.

Use liberally on affected area.

The solution is best kept in the fridge and used within 6-8 of being made.


Make sure you wash your hands after preparing, as cayenne and peppermint can irritate the skin if left on for too long or if it comes into contact with the eyes. Turmeric if left on can also cause yellowing of the skin.
